A dedication ceremony for the Dorothy Stang Center for Social Justice and Community Engagement on March 19 in Ralston brought together NDNU's community to celebrate her life. Dorothy Stang stood for social justice and committed her life to protecting the Amazon Rainforest before she was brutally murdered. The new center seeks to carry out Sr. Dorothy's mission on NDNU's campus. Sr. Dorothy's brother, David Stang, was present to speak about his sister's courage. "She was an angel of the Amazon," said Stang. The ceremony included tribal drumming (above) by David Littlefield, Bobby Vaughn and Sister Pat McGlinn to honor her memory. Below center, David Stang presented the Guardian of Justice Award to Tenderloin activist Rev. Glenda Hope. At the bottom are pictured Dr. Gretchen Wehrle, Kathryn Racine-Jones and Dr. Don Stannard-Friel.
