This month's Hot Spot brings us to Divino Fine Italian restaurant at 968 Ralston Avenue, just a couple of blocks from campus in downtown Belmont.
Divino is an authentic Italian ristorante which is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and for dinner Tuesday through Saturday 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 5 to 9 p.m.
Divino's is known for its amazing cuisine and impressive wine list. I recently visited Divino's for dinner with a friend and found the food, wine and service to be wonderful. We ordered the Ravioli Di Magro which is homemade ravioli filled with swiss chard, pine nuts and ricotta in a creamy walnut sauce, and the Ravioli Di Zuca which is homemade ravioli filled with butternut squash, amaretto and ricotta topped with butter and sage.
Both dishes were delicious and presented beautifully. The waiter suggested we pair our entrees with a glass of Raymond Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2006.
We decided to finish our meal with the Panna Cotta Al mango E Lamponi which is homemade mango raspberry-flavored eggless custard and the Torta Di Cioccolato Delle Nacelle which is flourless chocolate cake with hazelnuts. The dessert was to die for and once again looked beautiful on the plate.
Divino is hands down the best Italian restaurant I have been to in San Mateo County. It is a great place for couples, families or friends to have a glass of wine and a great meal with friends. The menu features several options from pastas and soups to salads and seafood. The price is upscale but is well worth it! (Remember it for special dinners when parents will be picking up the tab!)
Divino's also has a special event coming up on Monday March 31. They will offer their Winemaker Dinner where you can join Chef Vincenzo Cucco for a culinary feast with perfect wine pairings by Raymond Family Vineyards. For details on this event and information about how to make a reservation visit.
