The girl's soccer team battled through a tough schedule in September with the help of many of their young talents. The NDNU girl's soccer team starts six players that are in their freshman or sophomore year.

The underclassmen have scored six of their team's ten goals on the season. The girl's team has a current record of 2-5-1 and (1-1) in Pac West play.

The first four games of September were on the road and the girls went 1-2-1 on that trip. They had a 1-0 victory over Central Washington and a 1-1 tie against Humboldt State but dropped games to Saint Martin's 2-1 and the 10th nationally ranked team Seattle Pacific 3-0.

Happy to be back on their home field the NDNU girl's soccer team routed Chaminade University 5-0 and out shot them 25-1 in the entire game.

Senior Erin Morrison, sophomores Sally Olsson and Cat Ponce, and freshmen Taylor Snider and KC O'Shea scored the Argo's five goals.

Coach Lance Thompson said the girl's played their game plan perfectly.

"The girl's played very discipline against Chaminade. Five different players scored. It was a great way to kick off conference," said Thompson.

In their second conference game, the Argos lost to the girls of BYU-Hawaii 2-1. The Argos never gave up when trailing 2-0 and gave themselves a chance to tie things up when sophomore Kristen Orlando scored a goal in the 82nd minute from 35 yards out.

"BYU remembered that we beat them last year on their turf for the championship," said Thompson. "We played well, it wasn't a lack of fight."

Thompson said that the both soccer programs need to finish their shots.

"We have a lot of opportunity but we aren't finishing. That is the only thing holding us back from separating ourselves," said Thompson.

The girls travel to Arizona, Sonoma and Hawaii in October. They play there last home game against Dixie State Oct. 20.
