Imagine NDNU without your favorite professor, faculty member or group of friends.
As a senior, I have made some friendships here that will last forever. I remember my dad told me when I was moving in as a freshman that in the next month, you are going to meet some people that will be a part of your life forever.
As cheesy as it sounded at the time, he was right. My freshman roommate is still one of my best friends, even though she has since transferred.
That same roommate came to the soccer games for the protest last Saturday. Even though she isn't an Argo, she put on a shirt and protested.
She made a comment that the biggest thing she misses is the people. While watching the games, she said she wished she was still around to hang out with the friends she made here before she left.
The intimate relationships we make with our professors are unique to small schools like NDNU. Where else will a professor take an interest in your personal life or attend your games or performances?
Many of them give us their personal cell phone numbers trusting we won't call them at 2 in the morning. They have a genuine interest in your life and that is why they are teaching here.
We may not have a football team, a large student body, and I think we can agree this is not exactly a college town, but we have an amazing core of people that make NDNU what it is.
We may take it for granted sometimes but when you stop and think about the friendships you have made, is there anywhere else you would rather be?
