Judy Buller Ph.D., director of the communications program at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, examines a copy of the student publication The Argonaut at the St. Mary's rack, that have been repeatedly molested since they hit the racks on Jan. 25.

Sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning about 500 copies of The Argonaut were vandalized.

During the night, vandals cut out the story of the alleged rape that occurred on campus Jan. 20 from the front page of every issue and returned the molested papers to their boxes.

In addition to cutting out the story, The Argonaut's glass display case, outside of St. Mary's which holds some of its awards and a copy of the current issue, was pried open and the newspaper removed.

Belmont police have been notified of the crime.
