Blood Diamond is a thrilling story about a farmer, a smuggler and a business man who will go to any lengths to get this precious diamond gem.
The farmer played by Djimon Hounsou, is torn away from his family by the rebel army to become a diamond miner in Africa. While he is gone, his son is taken away from his family and put into the rebel army.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays a charming diamond smuggler who is only out for himself and plans to use the diamond to get him a one-way ticket out of the country.
The movie has many intense moments and action packed scenes. But more than that it leaves you with an emotional connection with the characters. The compelling sub-story with the father and his son is remarkable.
The movie is a great eye opener but is rather lengthy running 143 minutes.
I highly recommend this movie for anyone especially those with a nose for politics and drama.
