Women's soccer takes Pacific West crown
Men's soccer prevails as co-champions in inaugural season

The women's soccer team prevailed undefeated in the Pacific West to win the conference title. Notre Dame used a 1-0 victory over BYU Hawaii to take the title. The women finished their season with a 12-6-2 record and won their last 12 games.
"We worked really hard for this and we are so excited that we were able to get this win," said senior Kelli Brackinreed. "It felt really good to walk off their field knowing that we were conference champions."
The Argos left for Hawaii needing a win over second-place team BYU Hawaii to claim the title. The women got away with a narrow 1-0 victory, defeating BYU by one goal both times the teams met. Senior Hope Siffert scored the Argos only goal early in the second half. Goalie Candice Schroedetzki shut out the Seasiders for her eighth shutout on the year.
The women had a very successful inaugural season in the Pac West conference. They outscored their opponents 27-2. Freshman Amy Armijo had a strong season, leading the team with 10 goals and five assists. Armijo was also point's leader with 25. Seniors Brackinreed and Siffert were solid, each with five goals and three assists. The team also outscored their competition 42-19 on the season. The Argos lose six seniors to graduation but will return a strong lineup for next season.
The men also fared well in their first season in the Pac West. After going undefeated in Hawaii, they were named co-champions of the Pac West Conference, along with Grand Canyon. The men ended their season with a 13-5-2 record, including seven shutouts. The team won their last nine games. Their only blemish in the Pac West was a 2-1 loss to Grand Canyon on Oct. 1.
The men outscored their opponents 60 goals to 23, scoring as many as seven in one game. The Argos were led in goals by senior Erik Michon with 15 goals. Senior Anton Del Rosario led the team with 13 assists and senior Anthony Putrus was point's leader with 37. Putrus racked up 13 goals and 11 assists on the year. Goalie Nico Arellano had an 8-3-2 record with four shutouts.
