After finishing last year ranked as the number 12 team in the nation, the Argonauts opened up the fall with an 11-10 overtime win over the Sonoma State Sea Wolves Nov. 5. Sophomore Jon Black led the charge with two goals in the span of 12 seconds, to tie up the game at 10-10, late in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Brad Matzek scored the game-winner off a "quick-stick" as the ball went over the goalie's shoulder and tucked under the post, for the overtime win. Junior Keegan Davidson got the assist on the game-winner. "Mikey passed me the ball and I ran it up the field, like a midfielder is supposed to. I dodged a pole and I saw Brad 'c-cut' on the crease and I threw him the ball. It was a bit high, but Matzek was able to contain the ball," Davidson said. "I guess I was in the right place at the right time," said Matzek, about the goal. At right, Mike Ferrari makes a save. Below, Geoff Farrer battles for a loose ball.
