Argo win streak snapped after two
Early leads are hard to maintain

The Argonauts, who just returned from a road trip to Arizona, went 1-1 against Grand Canyon University over the weekend.
The Argonauts lost the first game three games to none (18-30, 20-30, 28-30) and won the next game in four games, (26-30, 30-26, 31-29, 32-30).
The Argonauts started out the month with a game Oct. 4, as they hosted CSU Monterey Bay and lost in three games (21-30, 27-30, 20-30). The Argonauts trailed early and often against the Otters.
"We were getting good points but couldn't put them together, said Head Coach Devin Grant.
Freshmen Laura Trudelle led the Argonauts with 10 kills on the night while sophomore Marissa Miller had 16 digs as well.
Three days later on Oct. 7, the Argonauts cruised to Scotts Valley, to take on the Bethany College Bruins. The Argonauts went down in four games, (26-30, 25-30, 30-17, 28-30).
The Argonauts drove home to face the Oaks from Menlo College in Atherton. Oct. 8.
The Argonauts went down in four games as well, (16-30, 30-32, 16-30). They never led in the first game and the Oaks opened up a double-digit lead in cruising to victory 30-16.
The Argonauts took an early lead in game two, before Menlo grabbed its first advantage at 7-8 in going up 17-22. Notre Dame rallied to tie the game up at 24-24 before losing 30-32.
The Oaks returned the momentum back to their first-game form in the third, not allowing the Argonauts to come within 11 points after snaring a 10-21 lead, to eventually beat the Argonauts 16-30.
The Argonauts returned to the Walter Gleason Center Oct. 12 to defeat the visiting Hawks from Holy Names University in five games (24-30, 30-27, 30-25, 19-30, 15-11). Nine errors led to an early Holy Names win in the first game 24-30.
Game two proved to be a different story as the Argonauts went ahead early and held off the Hawks late to win 30-27. With only three errors and 16 kills in game three, the Argonauts won easily 30-25.
The fourth game was a different game as the Hawks tied up the game at 13-13 and never trailed, eventually winning 19-30.
After being down 3-7 in the fifth game, Devin called a time-out to regroup. The Argonauts won the next point 4-7 and tied the game up at 9-9, before pulling away 15-11 to win three games to two.
"We took the game away. That's something that we haven't done in a while," Devin said. Trudelle and junior Val Adams led Notre Dame with 14 kills each.
On Oct. 15, the Argonauts traveled north to San Rafael to take on the Penguins of Dominican University, winning in four games (31-29, 21-30, 30-27, 30-28). The Argonauts took their two-game win streak back home to the Gleason Center to host the visiting Warriors from CSU Stanislaus Oct. 19.
Notre Dame forced a game five before falling (27-30, 30-27, 21-30, 30-20, 15-17). Marissa Miller led the Argonauts with 16 kills and the Warriors' Liz Sloan led all players with 19 kills. Freshmen Shauna Folan, who was playing in her second match of the year, after rehabbing a shoulder injury led Notre Dame with 19 digs.
Taking on the Pioneers of CSU East Bay Oct. 25, the Argonauts lost in four games. The Argonauts return to action Saturday to play Holy Names in Oakland before returning to Belmont for the final two home games and Senior Night Nov. 10-11.
