Mainstream Hip-Hop Pick for this Issue - Kanye West: Late Registration
Coming off the success of his debut album College Dropout, Kanye West returns with the same passion in Late Registration.
Late Registration shines because of the variety from beginning to end. From the sentimental song "Roses" to his political banger "Crack Music," West appeals to every type of listener.
West goes as far as using Adam Levine (Maroon 5) to separate himself from the rest of mainstream hip-hop.
Guest Appearances also include: Jay-Z, Common, Brandy, Cam'ron, Consequence (A Tribe Called Quest) the Game, and Paul Wall.
The most emotional track on the album is "Hey Mama" where West praises his mom with every line. "All That I Got Is You," as West raps, "Can I cry, please? Gimme a verse of 'You Are So Beautiful to Me."
The only downfall of the album is the ridiculous number of skits between a few of the songs. However, aside that, in Late Registration, West brings the whole package: Beats, rhymes and an honesty that is missing in many of today's mainstream hip-hop albums.

Underground Hip-Hop Pick For this Issue - Slug and Murs: Felt 2
Two of the biggest and most charismatic indie rappers are at it again. Slug & Murs return to pay homage to the Underground scene that they so proudly represent.
This time they brought Atmosphere producer Ant along to create the musical bed for this fun filled funk ride.
The main reason why this indie album stands out is the excellent production from Ant.
Slug and Murs take the listener on a musical journey in "Gone" where Slug shines and raps about how he uses women to make him feel more like a man. He preaches to his son and urges him to treat women with respect and dignity.
If you are a true underground fan, then Felt 2 is an album that you need to pick up. From both MC's wit and intelligence to Ant's incredible beats Felt 2 has become an instant classic in the underground scene.
